Good news for all registrants of Aussie domain names.
auDA have today release their Priority Status Tool for the general public. It can be accessed here.
Whatever you may think about the merits of direct registration – e.g. the ability to register domainer.au – you can now see where you stand in the pecking order. Is your domain Category 1 or Category 2 – and are there others before or after you?
There has also been an update today on direct registrations.
Their articles are self-explanatory, so please click on the links for further information.
If you have any questions or comments, you can post them here. (Cue Sean). 🙂
Haha the sooner this rubbish new extension arrives the sooner it can flop. So over hearing about it.
Every new extension that has been created over the last 20 years has flopped. Search engines don’t recognise them. Consumers don’t recognise them. Money pit.
Have auDA, Afilias and auDA Registrars verified all the conflicted domain name Registrants Eligibility rights? No
Does auDA guarantee the accuracy of all auDA Whois registrant data and the eligibility?
https://domainer.com.au/this-seems-to-be-daylight-robbery-auda/
Is Monster.net.au eligible to be in the auDA conflicted names and be listed in the priority tool auDA? That registrant is not only ineligible they appear to be using a UBU and impersonating a Government department with it still weeks later after auDA knows about it?
“There are three reasons why this is so bad:
The alleged “burglar” is using the Victorian Government’s DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE AND COMMUNITY SAFETY ABN identity as the registrant! Screenshot below.
They seem to be planning an online store through Shopify – screenshot below.
According to DomainTools, they have used the Dept of Justice ABN for over a decade! This means that they have priority to register the .au when direct registrations come into being in March next year. That is neither right nor fair.”
Now we see auDA has allowed them to update the Registrant yesterday? WTF?
Look at the screenshots here! https://domainer.com.au/this-seems-to-be-daylight-robbery-auda/

https://www.auda.org.au/tools/priority-status-tool
The auDA Priority Status Tool is flawed and extremely legally risky for auDA if auDA claims all the registrants and eligible and many are not.
auDA already claims they verify all existing registrants are in fact eligible to retaimn their license and be in the auDA created conflicted names process or priority and so do the Registrars. Look here http://www.GetYour.com.au
” Verification required
To be eligible for a com.au domain, businesses need an ABN or similar registration issued by the government.
Registrars validate business details upon application and auDA has a compliance team to ensure that domain names are issued to genuine local businesses.”
The big issue is auDA plans to make a profit from their conflicted names token fee. No other namespace in the world has done this ever.
The .NZ conflicted names process was and remains 100% FREE including FREE mediation for conflicted name parties. They had NO Fees like auDA has created.
auDA and their auDA Foundation has $millions in the bank from existing registrant domain fee profits already. No excuses to try and charge any conflicted names process fees.. tokens, lottery tickets or whatever term they come up with to try and justify it.
Simple solution Sean. Make a complaint before it is to late. (see below)
Looking at the abn which was registered yesterday how can anyone justify a correction to the whois data the registrant / abn did not even exist until yesterday. Sounds dodgy to me
If Dept of Justice never owned it, then it can’t be transferred by Dept of Justice to Hirons.
The name COR was done 14 Dec 21 same day new ABN registered.
auDA has serious questions to answer here.
Chain of Title?
Stat Dec?
What verifications was auDA, Afilias, Registrar ever doing for the monster.net.au registration, renewals and this new COR?
It proved auDA is not properly managing the .au namespace and seems to cover things up or not answer when rightfully questioned.
This is just one example of thousands.
The PRP recommended that no new names be added to the reserved names list after a year of consultation. Why does auDA want to reserve more names?
Does this mean that if no agreement is done between priority 1 registrants auDA can decide to release the contested name to the public?
1.3.4 The Board of .au Domain Administration may, at its sole discretion, specify an end date for the Priority Registration of Priority Status (Category 1) domain names.
If you want to make a complaint do it now. Good luck finding the form provided by the Registrar.
1.13.3 A Person must make a complaint under paragraph 1.13.2 before the registration of the domain name in the .au direct namespace using the form provided by the Registrar.
For all of you who registered a name for the next 5 years make sure your domain is still eligible under the current policy otherwise you may be stuffed. ” Immediately prior to the Commencement date” means the new licensing rules.
Eligible licence means a licence which is:
(c) valid under the auDA Published Policies in effect immediately prior to the Commencement date;
Although technically “in effect” could mean the policy that applies to your domain name at the time. Are there any lawyers out there or perhaps we can get some clarification from auDA.
What the Fu$k? Some lawyers said 5 year reg was the best option and people did it? Maybe it wasnt?
I see DoJ still running a funeral business auDA?
Total Bullshi$
I have contacted DoJ and they did not register this or the 69 others that use their details as the registrant.
auDA and Bruce Tonkin Please Explain?
https://www.whois.com/whois/paradisefunerals.com.au
There are 69 more.
https://domainer.com.au/is-the-dept-of-justice-vic-in-the-funeral-business/
Yes this matters.
It is not good enough to see many of these still listed in the auDA Priority tool as being valid and eligible for the direct .au and priority status. It shows some serious legal and risk flaws in the auDA systems!
It is the tip of the iceberg.
auDA has known about them for some time.
The issue is auDA still has over 200,000 ineligible .au domain name registrants listed for eligibility.
This will include many in the auDA created conflicted names process.
This will involve the loss of .au priority rights to others unfairly in many cases also.
This will involve new auDA, Afilias and Registrar created fees unfairly in the conflicted names process. ( fees which no other country or namespace in the world have ever charged when they did their direct registrations process, the priority and conflicted names process https://www.auda.org.au/tools/priority-status-tool !)

“How to apply
You will be able to apply for Priority Status via the registrar of your existing .au domain name, or any other registrar offering direct .au domain names when the priority allocation period opens in March 2022.
There will be a fee for lodging an application and, like the prices of domain name registrations, this fee will vary between registrars.
You must ensure that you are eligible to hold the .au domain which forms the basis of your application, and your eligibility for your existing .au domain will be checked when you apply. ”
