Yesterday, I received a call from the new CEO of auDA – Cameron Boardman.
This was foreshadowed in my post on the 24th October where I wrote:
- The new CEO has certainly begun to improve communications with auDA members. This is the announcement sent to all members on the 20th October. This is very much welcomed. But as I said to an auDA Director last week, “one swallow does not a summer make” – let’s hope this is just the start. Here is an encouraging excerpt from Cameron’s message:
“As I announced at the auIGF, auDA must engage with its membership and stakeholders even more effectively. It is my intention to ensure that auDA meets its members and stakeholder expectations by improving upon its communication and service delivery, in a responsive and professional manner. I am therefore pleased to confirm that from Monday the 24th of October, auDA will commence an extensive membership consultation to evaluate our existing services along with obtaining views on current policy, and to identify areas where we need to improve”.
I Was Impressed
My call with Cameron lasted 25 minutes, and I must say that I came away from it feeling very encouraged for the future of the .au space.
He is an excellent communicator; and certainly seems to have a good grasp of the issues and challenges ahead of him.
Whilst I won’t at this stage go into the length and breadth of our discussion, what impressed me most was his willingness to engage with members and stakeholders. If he carries through with this – and I have no reason to doubt that he won’t – then I for one will be very happy. It’s a huge improvement on what has happened in the past.
Hopefully, all members should have their call sometime soon!
