This is the first of what I hope will be a regular addition to Domainer.com.au.
Whilst I’m not going to give up writing single purpose articles, I think there is a need for a regular compilation of “snippets” that may be of interest to people involved with domain names.
So here goes with the first one.
New Website For Escrow
Escrow.com have been beta testing a new look website, and I just received an email from Jackson Elsegood (General Manager) saying that they are now up and running.
When I was at NamesCon recently, Matt Barrie did tell me that they are hoping to be licensed to operate in AUD (Australian dollars) in Quarter 2 this year. That will be very handy – particularly as Escrow.com offer term deal facilities.
More turmoil ahead. Just read in The Age that another provider has gone down the gurgler. I have great sympathy for the thousands of students (and their parents) plus teaching staff that are caught up in this.
Would be interesting to know what domain names they have – and what will become of them?
My guess is that a few of the “big boys” will do very well out of this situation.
- I haven’t forgotten about getting auDA’s response to this story. I followed this up yesterday, and am hopeful of having something “official” soon.
- Speaking of the above, looks like this sale still hasn’t gone through! As I said previously, I have great sympathy for Netfleet in this situation. There needs to be some sort of remedy available to them (to insure the integrity of the marketplace).
- I’m still buzzing from attending NamesCon in Las Vegas. Best thing I have ever done in domaining. For those interested in some “early bird” tickets to next year’s conference; or to catch up on individual highlights from NamesCon, have a look at their news page.
- Reflection 2 in this story looks like it may have a costly and newsworthy sequel. Hopefully though, common sense will prevail, and we can all get on with life and business without the need for any further unpleasantness or discussion. At this stage, I’m not going to elaborate (and hopefully I never will have to) – however I will say that it does not involve Netfleet! 😉
If you have any comments on any of the above, I’d love to hear them.
Should you have any suggestions for future stories – or any “hot news”, please let me know.
I’m also always on the lookout for people to interview. It is great to share peoples’ journeys in the domain world. So please get in touch if you would like to be featured. It’s totally free – I’m a great believer in a “rising tide lifts all boats”. 🙂
Best wishes for your online success.
