Here are some snippets about the domain name industry (and other stuff!) that I hope you find interesting.
Looks like Jonathan Gleeson is no longer General Manager of Netfleet.
I discovered this quite by accident when I was going through my LinkedIn feed last night. Got a message that Jonathan had updated his profile, and did a double take when I saw his “title” had changed. Had a quick look at his profile, and this is what I saw:
So this then opens up a whole lot of questions – particularly, who is in charge of the “lolly shop” now?
Are we back to Mark Lye?
I wish Jonathan well for the future. To me, he was a decent guy in an unenviable position.
What’s Happening On The Drops
Big day yesterday volume wise – though values were fairly low.
In total, there were 26 contested domains on Netfleet – and they won 25 of them.
Top domains were aiphone.com.au for $250 +/+; kse.com.au for $203 +/+; and cheappumberssydney.com.au for $200 +/+. No visible bids on Drop for these three (which indicates $1 bids at best).
The only domain that NF lost was dogdaycareperth.com.au ($29 +/+ on their platform) – this was won by Domain Shield for an unknown price (probably $50 inclusive at most). Forgive the pun, but this was really a “long tail” domain. 😉
I Love It When …
Someone who has lowballed you on a domain name in the past (and threatened making a complaint to auDA) comes back and tries to buy the domain.
Happened to me on Saturday. Remember this guy?
Butter couldn’t melt in his mouth this time around.
Deal now done – though he ended up paying a bit more than my last offer to him. 😉
Website Of The Day
Sold a domain to a Melbourne based startup yesterday. I dealt with Zia (one of the co-founders) – and she was straight down the line. 🙂
They are developing an app called AFTR – which is described as being a “smart little black book”!
“For business travellers & time-poor business people; a simple & smart way to find, book and pay for personalised, trusted and curated professional services on-demand”.
One of the founders (Teresa), writes some great articles about the journey of a “startup” – I particularly liked this one:
I wish them great online success!
Motivational Quote Of The Day
One of my favourite marketing gurus is Seth Godin. The words and perspective that flow from this man are simply amazing.
Love this one:
If you have any comments on any of the above, as always I’d love to hear them. 🙂
