Domainer Show – Episode 34 – New auDA Rules with Anthony and Erhan.

Rob chats with Anthony Peake from the registrar Drop.com.au and Erhan Karabardak from CooperMills.com.au (Domain Name Lawyers) about the impending new auDA Rules being introduced on April 12th, 2021. That’s in about 3 weeks time from now!

We discuss some possible problems with the new rules, the dilemma international trademark holders are facing, how Registrars are going to deal with around 10,000 domain complaints per month, and whether it’s a good idea to renew your domain names NOW, before the new rules take effect, or whether you should renew them once the new rules come in.

We also talk in depth about the new complaints policy, and whether or not complainants will also have the right for external reviews against Domainers if their complaints are denied!

We also discuss the new rule that says you MUST perform your Change Of Registrant within 28 days of domain name transfer and what it means if you don’t perform the COR in this time.

This video interview is a must-watch for all Australian entrepreneurs and domain investors heading into the new Australian domain name rules implementation.

3.5.2 A Person must not apply to .au Domain Administration unless all avenues of redress with the Registrar have been exhausted.

What are these avenues of redress with a Registrar?
What is the complaint management standard with a registrar, is it a uniform complaint management process across all Registrars or simply an internal construct, is it published, if so, where is it?

10,000 complaints a month…? The Registrars better have an effective complaint management strategy that works.

For example; 10 complaints per day, 300 complaints in 30 days with a 30 day resolution time frame for each complaint – this will have a compounding effect upon Registrar resources / staff.

A good CRM like Siebel or saleforce is required, along with a whole host of customization to manage various complaint types, escalation flash points, and know-how.

The cancelled ABN and ACN renewal restriction is going to catch out so many small businesses. I see these daily now and I don’t think it’ll be popular.

It’s positive to hear that monetisation compliance will be simpler, that’s good news.

Another important point that has been made in this video is; are the COMPLAINANTS also allowed to engage the various REVIEW options if a decision in not made in their favour, until they receive a favourable outcome?
