Feeling Very Lucky

Just on a personal note, my wife and I are feeling very, very lucky. On Sunday, we got a phone call that no parent wants to get.

Our youngest son Will left home recently to make his way in the world. He got himself a great job as a Personal Trainer in Brisbane; and a nice place to stay. His girlfriend from Townsville just came down to visit him – life was good.

Then on Sunday, whilst the two of them were driving down the Pacific Motorway towards the Gold Coast, he had a tyre blowout and his car spun out in the midst of busy traffic. They got hit by another car, and a big truck narrowly missed them. The car was a write-off, and they were taken by ambulance to hospital for treatment.

Cutting a long story short, they miraculously escaped with minor injuries. Even though it is a terrible thing that happened, fortunately no one was badly hurt. They live to fight another day, and they have a good life lesson under their belts. Cars can be replaced – people can’t.

There was definitely a higher power looking over their shoulder, and as parents, we are very grateful. 🙂

Glad your son and his girlfriend are ok Ned. As a parent myself, I can relate to how stressed you must have been. If I can help, please let me know.

Thanks Adam – all getting back to normal slowly but surely.

Will is still in pain; though it is of a financial nature! Given his age, the insurance excess was $2200.
