On Saturday, I did a deal on the domain name Crackers.com.au with a lovely guy called Nathan. He currently runs a business called Crackers’ Clearout which helps people declutter or downsize. What a great niche market. You can understand where his current domain name came from when you discover that his surname is McCracken!
Whilst his current branding (online and physical) explains exactly what he does, Nathan recognized that by investing in a much shorter one-word domain name like Crackers.com.au, his online presence will be so much improved. He now has the best of both worlds.
I think this is a lesson for a lot of businesses that deal online.
Shorter is better; spelling is easier; email addresses are a breeze! And you have a valuable cyber asset.
Great outcome for both parties! Congratulations to the both of you. Doing some investigating at auDA’s priority status tool, it seems crackers is available in category 2 as the sole applicant. It may be beneficial to let him know about this moving forward.
Can the sales price of crackers be disclosed?
Merry Xmas from Adelaide, Australia

Best wishes to you Erwin!
Can’t disclose actual price, but it was a decent 4 figure sale.
And I generally let my buyers know about possible rights to .au. It’s a good point you make.
I also sold stoked.com.au recently. Deal was done via GoDaddy brokerage who approached me. Mid to high 4 figures with no commission.
The buyer probably won’t want the purchase price disclosed as someone else may want to buy the name in the future.
Single word dictionary words ‘brandables’ are dynamite, well done to the buyer!
