New Beginnings

Forgive me for being sentimental in my older age, but it’s a very special time for me.

Two years ago, I had some really bad times on the health front. Whilst it sounds melodramatic, I was actually preparing for death’s door.

But second opinions; alternative treatments / pathways; and most importantly, the love and support of my best friend (my wife of 28 years) gave me a new lease on life. I’m very grateful to have a different outlook and positive attitude again.

New chapter

In 2018, I sold Domainer to Robert Kaay. I’d had enough of a lot of things, and I knew that Rob would well and truly carry the torch in his own way.

And he did so in a manner that he can be proud of. Whilst not everyone always agreed with him, he wore his heart on his sleeve and continued to look after the Aussie domain community. He highlighted the good stuff; and he attempted to expose the not so good things.

Then, after nearly 3 years, fate and timing intervened (as it often does), and after a quick chat and a cyber handshake with Rob, I have Domainer back again. The timing was just perfect for both of us.

Thank you Rob. 🙂

What you can expect

Regular opinions and observations of what’s happening with regards Australian domain names.

And I will share many tips on what I’ve learnt over the years in my life as an Aussie only domainer. Hopefully that will encourage others to share theirs as well.

And lots more …

I believe if the entire domain investor community doesn’t get behind the very important articles I’m sure you’ll be writing this year, the Australian domain name landscape will only continue to go backwards.

Great to have you back at the helm.

      Thanks Rob.

You highlighted some very important issues recently, and it seems a pity that they are not given the requisite attention (as yet).

And it is not just you. There are also other issues that I believe haven’t been dealt with satisfactorily.

This is why an Ombudsman is necessary. Facts, circumstances and decisions need to be looked at with independent oversight. ICANN has an Ombudsman – why not auDA?

Ned, quit while you’re ahead mate. Close down Domainer and preserve your health.

Posting this wise advice here so you can refer back to it in the future.

    Warm regards,
    Andy

    Ned,
I didn’t know you were unwell, I’m glad you came good. All the best with domainer and make sure you stay well this time.

Welcome back Ned. I’m looking forward to the types of articles you typically bring out.

Rob has done a great job with the site and I’ve enjoyed the content and podcasts. If you’re going to get out, giving it back to an old guy with too much free time is likely a wise move 😉
