The .au name space increased by 17,607 domains, with 18,008 being created in November. While .com.au space only grew by 3,904 domains despite new create number being 38,405 for the month and all the others saw a decrease, and this will be a trend that will in our opinion continue. Many portfolio owners will start to review their lists and start to purge any .net.au domains as their value with the launch of .au has been totally destroyed. Even end users will also start to remove .net.au from their renewals for the same reason especially if the .net.au domains were simply redirecting to their .com.au sites.

Based on the whole space direct .au equates to 17.08% increase from 16.74% of all domains registered and against .com.au 22.65% increase from last month 22.11% and impressive result that will continue to grow as adoption takes place.

As for adoption .au are starting to be used in the wild, here is one spotted recently: nouns.au
