Today many Australian businesses received a scam email from hackers trying to steal their domain name.
This email appears to have gone out to hundreds of thousands of Australian businesses, but auDA were quick to broadcast the following statement;
Scammers attack Australian .com.au domains.
I would assume this could be another scam constructed my dnsaustralia.org?
The headline is misleading. Scammers are not attacking .com.au domains. It is just a phishing attempt using publicly available whois information. I’m still yet to receive one of these.
auDA themselves sent every .com.au holder an email today with “scam alert” boldly placed as the title of the announcement.
