Snapshot Of A 3L Brandable Sale

One of the many 3 letter domains I sold last year went to a Canberra based Anaesthetist – Dr David Reiner.

The domain he purchased was DEX.com.au – and it was one of the quickest transactions I have ever been involved in. David was a great guy to deal with – he knew what he wanted; and just made it happen.

  • First enquiry came in via LinkedIn at 3.15pm. David made me a decent first up offer, and invited me to phone him to discuss.
  • I called him shortly thereafter; we had a good chat; and arrived at an acceptable price.
  • Sent him a confirmation email at 3.54pm asking for his details for tax invoice.
  • He replied quickly; I sent him invoice; and he sent me payment confirmation at 4.58pm.

That’s 1 hour and 43 minutes from initial contact to payment! Amazing.

Why Dex?

I’m always interested what people use acronym domains for, and the answer to this one lies in the product being used (to make the clear fluid for surgery).

As you can see from the Anaesthetist information page, the product is maltodextrin.

David and his team have obviously put a lot of work into Dex; and judging from the website, they have some serious backers for this non-profit project. They have all contributed time and resources without receiving any financial compensation.

I wish them great success.

This is exactly how it should be. Awesome sale with an awesome name. Snapped up by an intelligent businessman. Sold by a professional and patient domainer!
