Here are a few snippets relating to the business of domain names.
Parking Income
As regular readers would know, most of my domains are “parked” with Fabulous. Whilst I’ll never get rich from the monthly income generated by the ads on each lander, overall I get some decent pocket money each month. Occasionally though, I get a real blinder of a day!
These were my two top performers on the 30th June:
cheaperlifeinsurance.com.au – earnings for the day were $USD75.20
healthfund.com.au – earnings for the day were $USD45.02
In terms of traffic, one of the best performing domains for the month of June was petfriendlyrentals.com.au!
Netfleet
It’s been interesting to watch how NF have cranked up their marketing this year. I’d love to know what they spend on Adwords!
Also, they appear to have engaged a social media marketing expert. Their domain name platform is promoted heavily on Twitter and Facebook with regular tweets and posts; and they are now also writing a regular blog.
I think any promotion of the domain aftermarket is fantastic. Well done Netfleet.
Looking Back
It always gives me a great thrill to follow up on domains that I have sold in the past; and see what has been done with them.
This morning I received an offer to purchase farmwork.com.au, and it reminded me that last year I sold a similar domain name to Fiona Anson, CEO of Workible . She was delightful to deal with.
The domain purchased was FarmJobs.com.au; and if you have a look at the site, they have created something very worthwhile.

I know we’ve probably all had a gutful of pollies and elections, but I had to share this great video clip from The Chaser which was featured on The Guardian Australia. Warning – Adult Content!

Still laughing!@
Hey mate, Do you customise each parked page with fabulous or leave each page on standard template form do you find that p$rn pages pay higher or lower than say the petcare one many thanks shane
@ Shane
Mostly I leave them as standard templates. However, with some I employ a 2-click lander and use my own keywords. Particularly 3L acronym domains. This is a great feature of Fabulous platform.
Cheers mate will give them a try and see what results i can achieve with some adult names that recieve alot of traffic and seo optimise with keywords
