The last few weeks have been really interesting. I’ve never run for any form of office, so campaigning for a seat on the auDA Board was a new experience.
But the process was very similar to being a domain name broker that is marketing a premium domain.
1. You have to be organised.
2. You have to know who your “prospects” are.
3. You have to know what you are marketing, and make it easy to understand.
4. You have to create a “value proposition” that people can genuinely believe in. No bulldust!
5. You have to communicate your message effectively.
6. You have to follow up.
So we did all the above, and now Nicole and I await the verdict on Monday. Win, lose or draw, it’s been a great experience!
Thank you to everyone who supported us with their vote (and their best wishes) – we are very grateful. And if we are elected, we will do our best to deliver on our platform.
To end, I leave you with just one of the comments we received. This was from Derek Whitehead who was the former Chair of the auDA 2015 Names Panel (and someone who is a supporter of direct registrations). Thank you Derek! 🙂
“I am always impressed, Ned, with the way you provide a forum for all comers and all viewpoints. I think that it is great the way that your blog is one of the main communications mechanisms in the Australian domain name world, active and open to the Australian domain name community / industry.”

Best of luck Ned & Nicole. I won’t be attending the AGM this year, but will be eagerly awaiting the positive news on Monday afternoon.
You’ve run a terrific campaign!
I’ll have my fingers crossed for you and Nicole on Monday. I’m very hopeful that you’ll both be elected to the auDA Board.
I look forward to catching up in Melbourne in a couple of days.
You deserve to win Ned. There’s never been a better candidate to speak up for domain registrants.
Jeff
Good luck guys, I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for you both.
Don
Good luck Ned,
You have raised important topics over the years. I trust when you are on the auDA Board your domainer.com.au remains a source of valuable information and you are not too muted.
In many cases people have only found out information via your website so it is crucial to keep it active.
Congratulations to both of you…
Thanks Cheryl. Both Nicole and I appreciated your support. 🙂
Congratulations Nicole and Ned.
Very well deserved and the massive vote numbers you achieved show change was not only needed it was Demanded giving you an overwhelming mandate to enact the items you platformed and where voted in on.
Keep vocal. Thank you for persevering and listening to the incredibly high numbers who for so long had been the once silent majority.
Thanks Sean.
Yes, we do have an incredible mandate, but it’s important to remember that we are part of a Board. Magic isn’t going to happen overnight. We can’t enact anything – but we can push for the changes we stood for. You and others can rest assured that we will be doing that.
