Valuable Domains Sold On Expired Auctions!

On Saturday just past, anyone observing the expired auctions at Drop.com.au would have been gobsmacked to see some absolutely premium one-word domain names on their list.

I know I was – and I’ve been around a long time.

Not sure what exactly happened, but one corporate registrant apparently let these expire. They weren’t “policy deleted” by the regulator. If anyone knows the back story as to why these were “dropped”, can you please share in the comments?

Here are just the top four that were sold (many other one-worders were also picked up).

Profit.com.au

Earn.com.au

Men.com.au

Won.com.au – (what a great domain).

I won a couple of these, and I must say I was surprised that I didn’t get outbid. They were so cheap. This sentiment was shared by Anthony from Drop. đŸ™‚ We concluded that possible reasons were because it was a Saturday; almost Christmas; and Covid-19 had reared its head again. But who really knows?

One thing is for certain though. As the sole drop-catcher, Drop still had a good payday – and there are some very happy domain investors. Santa came early!

Bidders have less than 24 hours notice at these auctions

Most companies had end of year parties on Friday, and these usually are lunchtime onwards.

Which means no one went back to the office Friday arvo or had the time or will to check on what might drop Saturday.

So it was a super Saturday!

    Very good domain names.

Some of those domains are easily worth mid to high 5 figures. Possibly even 6 figures in the right hands. Super Saturday for sure.
