Last week I put out a call that I was looking to acquire some premium Aussie domain names. I got some absolute beauties – a few of which I believe will ultimately hold extremely high value for an enduser. Thanks to everyone who submitted names – I really appreciated it.
The most valuable domain niches in Australia (in my long experience as a domain investor / broker) are as follows:
♦ Insurance – all aspects
♦ Finance / Loans / Mortgages / Credit
Then follows good one word brandables / generics; 2 and 3 Letter domains – and some special geos.
As most people who read Domainer would know, I was involved in the marketing of Insurance.com.au late last year. I argued then – and I still believe today – that domain is the most valuable one in Australia. And if you want to disagree with me, let’s agree that it’s at least Top 3!
If I Had To Choose
I ended up spending a lot more than the $20k I initially proposed, but if I had to pick the three best that I acquired, they would be these – and in this order:
♦ InsuranceQuotes.com.au – without doubt, a huge money making opportunity for a switched on company or investor. Arguably this domain could get the same results as Insurance.com.au – but at a small fraction of the purchase price.
♦ CarInsuranceQuotes.com.au – the domain CarInsurance.com.au also sold for 6 figures, so I’m very happy with the price I paid for this one. Same principle as above.
♦ CreditRating.com.au – lot of players in this market. Dun & Bradstreet have been spending a fortune on advertising for CreditSimple.com.au.

Great names
Those are gems Ned. The insurance domains should be snapped up by one of the comparison sites.

I really like those insurance domains. Research on Netfleet show these sales.
