Here are today’s snippets about the domain name industry (and other stuff) that I hope you find interesting.
What’s Happening On The Drops
Saturday was an interesting day. There were a number of reasonable domains being dropped by one particular party. I know from personal experience that this person was previously seeking 5 figures each for a number of them! So a number of people picked up absolute bargains imho.
In total, there were 18 contested domains on Netfleet – they won all but one. Impressive result.
However, only 5 domains achieved 3 figures. Top name was precious.com.au for $408 +/+ (bid on Drop was only $116). This was followed by fights.com.au for $404 +/+ (bid on Drop was just $13).
I was exceptionally happy to pick up privatefinance.com.au. Cracker name!
Sunday was a shocker. There were only 6 contested domains on Netfleet – they won 4 / lost 2. The top domain won on NF was hue.com.au for $400 +/+ (bid on Drop was just $97).
Apart from this, the other 5 domains were sold for way less than $100.
Who wants to be a dropcatcher on days like this!
Recent auDRP Case
This is a case with a potential twist in the tale. Out of respect for the parties involved, I’m not going to publish what “the twist” is!
Can you figure it out? To give you a clue, think auDA policy. 😉
When I read the decision, I was so happy that the panelist decided in favour of the respondent. It was indeed a fair and sensible ruling imho. The conduct by the complainant left a lot to be desired.
Then I discovered “the twist”. I immediately emailed the respondent to tell him his potential problem. He obviously got the email because I saw that he inspected my LinkedIn profile.
However, he took no action. Therefore he is potentially living on borrowed time (in my opinion).
Website Of The Day
Three for the price of one today – but they’re all related.
Naomi Simson is the founding director of REDBALLOON – as well as being an author, speaker, blogger, LinkedIn Influencer, and “Shark” on Shark Tank Australia.
Her personal blog is one of the best I’ve read in Australia (worldwide for that matter). She is inspirational.
I enjoyed her recent article on LinkedIn – “The 11 Golden Rules of Conversation”. Makes a lot of sense.

Nice find on audrp. I see what you mean. ASIC is my guess.
Good spotting Graham.
