Daily Snippets – 24 February

Here is a round-up of some stuff that I hope you find interesting.

Brisbane MeetUp

It was wonderful to catch up yesterday with fellow domain industry friends (both old and new).

The venue was the Pig N Whistle in Fortitude Valley – and as it turned out, it was fantastic. We had a long raised table with bar stools, and being a Tuesday lunchtime, it wasn’t busy. Service, food and drink were excellent. A very big thank you to Drop and Netfleet for sponsoring the drinks. 🙂

With a couple of later arrivals, we had a total turnout of 11. I thought that was excellent for a midday meetup! Thank you to all of you who made a special effort to attend – particularly Chris Norris who came up from the Gold Coast.

What’s Happening On The Drops

It was an excellent day to have a meetup! Very quiet day as you can see below. Netfleet caught most of what was on offer.

Website Of The Day

One of the guys that turned up for our meetup yesterday gets the honourable mention for website of the day. In fact, it is websites plural!

Jason P works for one of the big banks as a financial planner; and he is also involved in the domain world. He is not a domainer – rather he is a builder of online businesses.

I hadn’t met Jason in person until yesterday, though our dealings online go back about 7 or 8 years. He bought horsetips.com.au from me, and has turned this into a very successful business model. It’s not what you call a stunning website, however it works!

His second online enterprise is a website he purchased via Flippa. This is called paraplanner.com.au.

I had no clue what a “paraplanner” was until yesterday! Apparently though, every financial planner needs to produce a “Statement of Advice” to their prospective clients before they can service their financial affairs. That’s where paraplanners come in.

“A paraplanner is a person within the Financial Services industry that prepares Statement of Advice documents, financial modelling and other financial planning documents”.

As you can see from Jason’s website, he has got a good business going there. Well done mate!
