Two of my most admired people in the domain world are both from the USA. They are Andrew Allemann of Domain Name Wire; and Adam Strong (domain investor and web entrepreneur).
I’ve had the pleasure of meeting both these guys in person at NamesCon last year. Both are incredibly successful in their chosen fields – and yet they remain humble and very likeable.
Andrew is a great writer, and DNW is simply a terrific resource for anyone interested in the domain world. Whilst most of his material is USA centric, a lot of it, in my opinion, is also relevant to any domain investor in any space. His knowledge and contacts are awesome – and so he is able to write informative and well researched articles day in; day out; year after year. In more recent times, Andrew has also been doing some very enjoyable podcasts with people in the industry.
Adam is obviously a fine judge of character, because part of his successful modus operandi is to get involved in partnerships with people. As he says, he likes to “invest in, and with people” so that all parties benefit from the relationship. Two such people are fine upstanding Aussies – Jen Sale and Mike Robertson (both ex Dark Blue Sea / Fabulous). 🙂 Though Mike has since moved on to another opportunity in the USA.
Today I have the opportunity of “killing two birds with one stone” – Andrew recently did a podcast interview with Adam. It’s about 35 minutes long, and in it, Adam shares how he got started – plus fast forwards right through to what he’s doing presently. Andrew is a great interviewer; and Adam is enjoyable to listen to.
Some of the topics discussed include:
- How he started out as a Graphic Designer.
- Some of the businesses he is (or has been) involved with – such as Logo.com; NameBio.com; DomainAgents.com (and more).
- How he recently purchased a 3L dot com domain for around $US100k; and then “flipped” it within 3 to 4 months for a 7 figure sum!

Adam Strong is a smart guy. All people named Adam are pretty awesome. 🙂
And which “Adam” are you? 😀
Except the first one.
