At the beginning of my domaining career – about 16 years ago – I stumbled upon the joys and benefits of 3-Letter (LLL) domains.
Not just for me either – but for the clients and businesses that convert to using them. They never look back. 🚀
No single niche of domain names have shown me the ROI (return on investment) that these do.
It is simple mathematics – purchase for say $500; and sometimes sell for 10, 20 or even 50 times that.
Over the last 8 years, I have also introduced others to how good these are to have as investments in a domain portfolio. Some of these people have also gone on to make incredible returns.
No rhyme or reason
People often ask me which letters I buy – or which letter combo is better?
The truthful answer is I never know what offers I am going to get. Experience shows it is better to have a good range of “stock” so that you cover all bases.
I have some domains like AIN.com.au which to me is premium stock, but I have never had one offer on it (yet!). There is also one particular domain that consistently makes me $50 to $100 per month on parking revenue – GFT.com.au. Go figure that! 🙂
These are some of my more recent sales – as you can see, some have vowels; some have none.
Other factors
- I have never done any direct outbound marketing. The only place I mention these domains is on here; and on LinkedIn.
- All my domains are “parked” on either ParkingCrew or Bodis with sales landers.
- I love responding to enquiries. I have a good system in place with various templates. My conversion rate is good!
- I generally use articles I have written on here over the years to help sell the domains! Like this one.

If you haven’t experimented yet, then my advice would be to get to it without going mad. 🙂
I’m having a sale of some of these domains this Thursday – and next Thursday. You can pick yourself up some very cheap 3L domains – all of which are also Category 1 domains when it comes to being in the running for .au.
